Context |
Although the Office of the Commissioner for Federal Judicial Affairs (FJA) is not bound by the Federal Sustainable Development Act and is not required to develop a full departmental sustainable development strategy, FJA adheres to the principles of the Federal Sustainable Development Strategy (FSDS) by complying with the Policy on Green Procurement. The Policy on Green Procurement supports the Government of Canada’s effort to promote environmental stewardship. In keeping with the objectives of the policy, FJA supports sustainable development by integrating environmental performance considerations into the procurement decision‑making process through the actions described in the 2020 to 2023 FSDS “Greening Government” goal. |
Commitments |
Although FJA is not bound by the Federal Sustainable Development Act and is not required to develop a departmental sustainable development strategy (FSDS), FJA adheres to the principles of the FSDS by implementing the Policy on Green Procurement. |
Integrating sustainable development |
FJA uses Public Services and Procurement Canada (PSPC) procurement instruments as its primary procurement mechanism and leverages the environmental considerations incorporated into these standing offers/supply arrangements by PSPC. FJA implemented new initiatives for waste management to encourage recycling and composting in an effort to become a more environmentally friendly workplace. FJA plans to continue integrating sustainable development into its procurement practices and efforts will continue to be dedicated to promote Green Procurement through procurement training, inclusion of reminders on procurement forms, as well as pre-selected Green items when procuring office supplies and office furniture. |
